The Agency continues to routinely collect outcome data and prepare these for dissemination through peer reviewed national and international journals and papers at local conferences. On-going specialised research continues to take place looking at levels of expressed emotion in therapeutic communities and investigating processes and outcomes in psychotherapy research.

The findings from this research continues to provide empirical evidence that residents are functioning well in our units, showing good improvements over the periods of stay while resident. In the units levels of expressed emotion are low; the psychotherapy research demonstrates patterns of therapeutic activity with therapist/patient interchanges in on-going psychotherapy. All of this work (see publications) is consistent with the health and social services strategy of promoting evidence based practice.
