Children and Adolescents

Aims:

To provide therapeutic sessions to children and adolescents who experience significant emotional difficulties arising from loss, abuse or other circumstances.

Nature of service:
In conjunction with parents, carers and other child care professionals the service will offer short, medium and long term treatments which will focus both on the young person's difficulties and the family systems in which they live.

Objectives:
The interventions are intended to make a difference evidenced throughÉ

  • Resolution of immediate emotional conflicts.
  • An improved sense of 'self' for the child or young person.
  • An improved ability in and quality of relationships.
  • A facilitation of appropriate development.
  • A decreased need for disturbed behaviour to communicate emotional difficulties.

TEDI Mission Statement:
Each child with significant emotional difficulties has the right to skilled personal therapy to:

  • Aid recovery and;
  • Develop his / her potential for maturity.

Consequently reducing the likelihood of later mental health problems.
