What is a Therapeutic Community?
Therapeutic Communities provide treatment primarily for people with severe and longstanding emotional problems. Through a combination of group work, practical rehabilitation and informal social community exchange they offer care that is based on establishing a supportive and healthy network of relationships.
The work uses principles such as empowerment, democratic dialogue, social inclusion and establishing a safe environment creating a culture of belonging, openness of communication, responsibility and active participation.
